November events in Umbria
There is a whole host of delicious reasons to visit Umbria in November. White and black truffles, saffron, freshly squeezed olive oil and new wines will delight your palate in an unparallelled gastronomic marathon.
Gubbio’s White Truffle Festival
During the long All Saint’s Day weekend white truffles and saffron vie for attention. The first are exhibited in Gubbio, while the second pervades the town of Cascia with its exotic perfume. Don’t miss the guided tour of the saffron fields!
Gubbio’s “Mostra Mercato del Tartufo Bianco” white truffle festival is one of the most important in the sector and a unique opportunity to visit or return to the magnificent town of Gubbio and lose yourself in gastronomic delights. The programme features tastings of all kinds, from wines to cheeses and chocolate, as well as a wealth of culture and information. It also features travelling shows through the streets of the town and food-related entertainment, including the unmissable truffle frittata or omelette in the piazza that closes the event.
Saint Martin’s Fair in Todi
On 11 November, the historic centre of Todi invites you to participate in another Umbrian festival of gastronomy, the Fiera di San Martino. Typical produce and Umbrian crafts abound as you admire the renaissance architecture of the Bramantes’s church of the Consolazione and the Palazzi Comunali over a glass of good wine.
Wine tastings at the cellar
Umbrian wines are also the protagonists of “San Martino in Cantina”, an unmissable event for those wishing to sample the new wine and enjoy guided tours of the vineyards and wine cellars of the region’s many wine estates.
Black Truffle Festival in Valtopina
During the second half of November the truffle once again takes centre stage, this time in Valtopina near Nocera Umbra. Two weekends are dedicated to the precious tuber with shows, tastings, a market selling typical produce and even a truffle hunting dog contest!
The new olive oil festival in Umbria
Last but not least, as part of the “Frantoi Aperti” exhibition, at San Potente we celebrate the new Umbrian olive oil with a festival at the end of the harvest. Endless bruschettas, large quantities of wine, music and traditional singing and above all, good company are the main ingredients of this fun, friendly event!
Umbria in November is not all about food, however. In the midst of this rich panorama of gastronomical delights, we remind you that the “Umbrialibri” book festival takes place in the magnificent setting of the Rocca Paolina in central Perugia.
A finger-liking experience in Umbria!
For those who want to taste the real Umbria, we can only suggest to come visit us at Villa Rosy in November.
Sometimes in order to be happy, you just need a bruschetta drizzled with the freshly pressed San Potente evo oil!
The San Potente new olive oil festival is held annually at Villa Rosy every first Saturday of November. You cannot miss it!
